The Chairmans Message May 2008

Dear Members

Please note that we have not one, but 2 summer events coming up!

The first is a kind invite from ETPS to go along to that world famous sporting event, the Annual Staff vs Students Cricket Match on Tuesday 5 August.  As you know, no student side that has ever gone on to graduate has ever won, so it's sure to be a tense match with some characteristically inventive rule-making from the staff side.  We're expecting the event to kick off at 3 pm on the cricket pitch opposite the Black Horse at Great Durnford and the cost will be £5 per person.  Numbers are limited for this event and the only way to sign up will be by phone.  Final details and the number to ring to register for a place will be in our next newsletter, due to be posted out later this week.

The ETPS Cricket Match & BBQ is not to be confused with....

..... our own Annual BBQ, to be held in the Mess on Saturday 6 Sep 2008 - same format as usual, with the same great weather as always.  Registration is now open....please go to 'Register for Functions' (via Members Login) and sign up!  If you prefer to register the old fashioned way, you'll find a link to a form to download, print and send off (with a cheque please) on the Register for Functions page.  There will also be a form enclosed with the newsletter.  However, if you register electronically, please pay electronically.  If you choose to register on the form by post, please send a cheque.  In other words, either do it all eletronically or all by post.....don't mix the two methods  please!

 17 COURSE REUNION

To celebrate the 50th year since the graduation of 17 Course from ETPS a reunion lunch will be held in the Officers Mess at Boscombe Down on Friday 10th October 2008. All course members and our tutors who are known to be still around have been contacted during the last few months, and have been informed of the date and venue of the reunion. Most have indicated that they will attend, and hopefully as many as possible will be accompanied by their ladies.

For security reasons, Boscombe Down will require the names, nationality, and car registration details of those attending. The intention is to circulate more details of the programme nearer the date, together with a request for the personal information needed for security purposes.

John Brownlow and Stuart Holmes are working jointly on the detailed arrangements for the reunion so please don’t hesitate to contact one of us if you have any queries – you’ll find our full contact details on the ETPSA website.
